[UAE, September 15, 2014] – Dubai Smart Government Department (DSG) has completed its preparations for participating in the 34th edition of GITEX Technology Week 2014 to be held at the Sheikh Saeed Hall in Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) between October 12 and 16.
DSG announced that 36 government entities are participating in the event after 4 new government entities joined this year’s list of participating entities at its 3,800 square metre stand, up by 1,100 square metres compared to last year’s stand. Apart from their eServices, the participating entities will showcase their latest smart solutions and apps under one roof.
H.E. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai Smart Government, said: “Our commitment in this year’s edition of GITEX is to provide a fully equipped platform for the public and visiting delegations to be familiar with the practical steps followed by DSG and government entities for transformation into smart government in implementation of the initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council for the prompt shift to smart government by displaying the latest smartphone solutions and apps as part of the connected smart government, which will contribute to positioning Dubai as an integrated, creative and knowledge-based city in the 21st century for the convenience and happiness of those living in the emirate.”
Bin Humaidan added: “Our stand will provide a real opportunity for its visitors from all social sections as well as Dubai citizens and residents to be familiar with the smart solutions and apps provided by Dubai Government and to test them live on the stand.”
DSG began its GITEX preparations by forming committees of organizers and technicians tasked with making the preparations for building the stand in consultation with its partnering government entities in such a manner that complies with their unique needs for ensuring the best success in familiarizing the various community sections with their eServices and smartphone apps after the viewpoints and suggestions of these entities have been taken into account.
Throughout the five-day event, DSG’s stand will feature an array of presentations and lectures highlighting its methodology of providing shared electronic and smart services including the latest smartphone apps, government resources planning (GRP) systems, messaging and collaboration services, Government Information Network, MyID gateway, mPay in addition to talks/presentations on the services and apps launched by the participating government entities.
These entities will hold daily raffle draws during which they will offer the visitors of their booths or those who attend one of their presentations a large number of prizes throughout the five days of the event. DSG on its part, will offer smartphones to random winners of its survey and draws. As part of its awareness drive, DSG has also launched a daily TV programme titled “Smart Government” to be transmitted on Sama Dubai channel after Al Multaqa programme at 8:40pm. DSG has also created a dedicated website http://gitex.dubai.ae containing adequate information on the stand and the entities participating in it. The new media team will publish the activities and news of the stand successively through its social media channels on Facebook dubaismartgovernment, Twitter @SmartGov_ and Instagram dubaismartgov.
