UAE, April 4, 2015 – Dubai Courts has revealed that its ‘Smart Seize’ application has been listed as one of the nominees for this year’s World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Project Prizes, an annual competition aimed at evaluating and rewarding stakeholders for their efforts in the implementation of WSIS outcomes, which will be held from May 28 to May 30, 2015 at the Headquarters of the International Telecommunications Union in Geneva, Switzerland. Nominated in the ‘ICT Applications: e-Government’ category, the ‘Smart Seize’ app successfully hurdled through the first and second evaluation stages conducted by this year’s jury. The nomination further reinforces the UAE’s leading position, especially Dubai’s, across the global judicial map.
Now in its third phase of evaluation, all nominated entries, including Dubai Courts’ ‘Smart Seize’ app, are open for public voting through the WSIS official website, www.wsis.org/prizes, until May 1, 2015. The ‘Smart Seize’ app gained global attention recently for being the region’s first-of-its-kind application aimed at transforming traditional processes and paper forms to smart applications using smart tablets–saving the time and effort of the customers and execution officers and enhancing the speed of execution of judicial decisions and judgments.
His Excellency Expert/Tarish Eid Al Mansouri, Director General, Dubai Courts, said, “Being nominated for WSIS Project Prizes competition represents an important step in our move to consolidate Dubai Courts leading position in the regional and international judicial arena. Additionally, being nominated serves as a catalyst for us to continue in our efforts to achieve excellence and support Dubai’s move to be the world’s smartest city, which falls in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.”
The Director General added, “The ‘Smart Seize’ app is the result of Dubai Courts’ initiative to develop a smart system that complies with the highest international standards and best practices in the field of smart technology and information security. Although it was just recently launched, the app has already achieved positive results in enhancing the accuracy and clarity of records by 100 per cent and making 85 per cent of the booking records electronic. It has also reduced the duration of the field booking procedures by 25 per cent, which contributes to facilitate the litigation and to ensure speed and accuracy of the execution of judicial decisions, in line with the directives of the leadership in building a proactive, creative and excellent government committed to meet the needs of the future.”
“We look forward to the support of UAE Nationals and residents – voting for the ‘Smart Seize’ app on the WSIS official website. We reiterate our ongoing commitment to continue to work hard to obtain more qualitative achievements by strengthening competitiveness of Dubai Courts locally and globally and to make the UAE one of the best developed nations in the world,” concluded Al Mansouri.
